About Shannon

Putting you first, always

Firstly, I just want to acknowledge that you are here! Thank you for taking the time to find the right therapist for you. This journey can be really tough; I know, I’ve been through it myself.

So, what do you need to know about me?

Well, I’m someone who likes to keep it real. I am human first and foremost and I show up that way in our sessions together. That means I am honest, can sometimes ask tough questions, will provide you with tools to use that I believe will support your healing outside of our sessions, and overall really care for the clients I work with.

I believe that therapy works when the therapist and client have a solid relationship and foundation of trust to build on. We need to be dedicated to one another, and I hope I can show up for you in the way you need me to.

I have done countless years of learning. I have done countless hours of my own therapy and supervision (and continue to do so). I can offer you education about our bodies and minds, why we do or think the ways we do. I can also offer you tools and support in order to change, cope, adapt, etc. to the things that may be stressors in your life, past and present.

I was led to do this work because of my own struggles with my mental health from an early age. I have been volunteering and working in a therapeutic capacity for the last 15+ years.

Outside of work, I am someone who has just had her first son, I am a partner, a dog mom, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a lover of interior decorating and design, travel, reading, and the sunshine.

Professional Learnings

I'm a qualified Social Worker. This means that I am registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. I hold a Master of Social Work Degree, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health, and a Bachelor's of Applied Science in Adult Development, Families, & Well-Being. Aside from my formal education experiences, I have attended many workshops, trainings, and have obtained certificates in areas such as Perinatal Mental Health, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Emotion-Focused Therapy, among others.

I have spent many years in the mental health field counselling in an outpatient hospital setting with both individuals and groups, as well as working with community agencies in different capacities. I love to speak and educate others about mental health challenges and am a strong advocate for accessibility and voice in your treatment.
